Customers Bear the Burden of Toshiba's Gross Incompetence!

I would like to start by saying that I was (please note the PAST tense) a  loyal Toshiba customer for DECADES.
The M45 Laptop I ordered memory for was purchased from Toshiba Direct, as was the A-15 I had before it, and I don't even remember what model I had before that...but it was a Toshiba.
Watching Toshiba become the new "Dell"  sickens me!!

Toshiba has both DDR and DDR-2 memory listed as compatible with each model Laptop on their website, which is impossible!  If I had placed my order on-line, I would have noticed this.  Unfortunately however, I called in my order, and a Toshiba salesperson chose the wrong memory for my Laptop.  Now I am expected to wait until the useless junk they sent has been returned and "processed" before my account is credited for the $359.05 Toshiba took immediately!  In the meantime, they can collect interest on MY money which have TAKEN without providing the goods I contracted for!

Thursday, Sept 7, 2006  I made the HUGE mistake of ordering a memory upgrade from Toshiba Direct. Since I'm on a VERY slow dial-up,  I decided to call in my order.

The very nice salesperson looked up my account (using my phone number) and located the record for the M45 Laptop I purchased from them a little over a year ago.  He then located the part number for a 2 gig upgrade kit for my Toshiba laptop.  He had the make, model and serial number of my laptop when he did so.  I opted for 2 day air delivery because time was of the essence.  He took my bank card info and completed the transaction.  A hold was placed on funds in my bank account in the amount of 359.05 immediately, and the money was removed from my account the next day.

The memory arrived Wednesday, Sept 13.  So much for 2 Day Air :-/
I knew I was in trouble as soon as I opened the box and saw "DDR-2" written on the packing slip.  Unfortunately it was too late to call Toshiba.  First thing Thursday morning I began a 2 day exercise in frustration trying to get Toshiba to take financial responsibility for their mistake, and all they were concerned with was insuring that I returned the USELESS MEMORY before they would do anything! WHY??  If I could use the crap they sent, you wouldn't be reading this webpage!!

How long I have to wait for my money does not matter to them in the slightest!  Initially they would not even cover the postage I paid!  They could take my money INSTANTLY, but it will be weeks or more before they complete their "process"  They also refused to ship the correct memory to me, because I am currently on a remote mountain top were our ONLY delivery address is a PO Box.  It doesn't matter that the nice man at the US Post Office will sign for stuff, call me and say, Ms. Ashby, you've got a package down here"   They won't send me the correct memory, and they won't give me my money back until they get their useless junk back.

I now have to find a REPUTABLE company to purchase the necessary memory from and spend another $350.00 to replace the defective Toshiba DIMM  I have wasted HOURS of my time trying to get my money back!

Toshiba has already had my money for more than a week.  It's Friday, so it will be next week sometime before they even pick up the useless parts IF they do at all.  How long it takes Toshiba to credit my account for the $359.05 they have already taken is entirely up to them ...which is exactly why I intend to organize this class action against them!

Toshiba is Knowingly Defrauding Customers!

As of November 7, 2006 (last update) Toshiba is STILL selling incompatible memory for THEIR OWN LAPTOPS on THEIR OWN WEBSITE!

THIS IS FRAUD AND INEXCUSABLE!!!

Toshiba is advertising and selling useless memory to customers and STEALING MONEY from the customer's account for chips THEY KNOW are incompatible with the customer's Toshiba Laptop!

Update: November 7, 2006  My bank issued temporary credit for the money Toshiba STOLE from me.  Now I must spend hours more of my time filling out forms and faxing the to my bank to keep MY MONEY THAT TOSHIBA STOLE FROM MY ACCOUNT!!!!!

Update: October 18, 2006   I was forced to return the useless junk Toshiba sent me AT MY OWN EXPENSE to receive a credit from my Bank

Update:  October 10, 2006
After spending a MONTH calling and writing Toshiba for a RMA, they STILL REFUSED to issue a return order for the useless junk they sent me.
I have been forced to go through my bank to have my account credited for the money Toshiba STOLE from my account!!

Update:
September 14, 2006
Another week has passed.  Toshiba has not issued a call ticket for the useless chips they sent. Big surprise.  I now hove to ship the junk parts back at my own expense in order for my BANK to refund the money taken by Toshiba.

BUYER BEWARE:  I have spent 14 hours (and STILL COUNTING)  of my time trying to get my money back from Toshiba for the USELESS MEMORY they are selling customers.

I have lost 14 hours of my time, while Toshiba has collected interest on the money they STOLE FROM ME two months ago!
You do the math, then buy elsewhere :-/
