European and Eur-Asian Shamanism

While shamanism  in its ancient form has been eradicated from many areas of Europe and Asia, it was still being actively practiced in  Europe and Asia  into the 1800s and early to mid 1900s. In some areas this was a partial practice, blended with the folk customs and integrated with Christian practices. In other places,  it survived completely intact (Siberia and Mongolia) or nearly intact (the Sami peoples of Scandinavia and Western Siberia).

Bekki and Crow will discuss the current use of shamanism in Europe and Eur-Asia and the renaissance and reclaiming of shamanism that is currently taking place in Europe. They will share information about the importance of the ancestors in traditional shamanism as practiced in Europe and Asia, and about the work they have been doing with their own ancestors to reclaim their personal shamanic heritages  (British, Etruscan, Danish and ancient Hungarian to date!). .

ALL OF OUR ANCESTORS no matter where we originated have practiced this powerful form of healing and connecting with the Spirit Realms.

We will also introduce students to the core technique of shamanic practice, the shamanic journey, which enables the practitioner to obtain help from allies by traveling in a trance state  to the  shamanic realms. Using drumming, rattling, movement and other methods of sonic driving to move into a state of shamanic consciousness, participants will learn to journey to contact  and interact with their personal spirit allies.

We work in a circle on the floor so please bring to the class a blanket or sleeping bag and pillow.  A  journal or notebook and something for lunch are also recommended.

Cost of the workshop is $75.00.
